Baby Gramps is Coming to Town!

We are bringing our hero Baby Gramps to Asheville next week. We have set up four distinct opportunities for you to see him perform:

Friday, June 8, 7 pm – TheĀ ArToREtuM in Candler
Saturday, June 9, 8 pm – Static Age on Lexington Ave.
with the Blind Boy Chocolate and the Milk Sheiks
Sunday, June 10, 7 pm & 9 pm – On the LaZoom Bus
Tuesday, June 12, 9 pm – Jack of the Wood with Mad Tea!

Seattle’s one and only Baby Gramps is a performer with a style so distinctive you’ll never forget it. He’s been called “The Salvadore Dali of Folk Music.” He plays acoustic antique resonator National Steel guitars, and sings his own unique arrangements of rags, jazz, & blues songs from the 20′s & 30′s, folksongs, and many originals with wordplay, humor, and throat singing. Don’t miss a chance to see him, Asheville!

Queen City Show

Mad Tea is making our overdue return to Charlotte, NC this Friday, May 25. We’ll be playing all night (starting at 10 pm) at the Thomas Street Tavern. Queen City friends, I hope you kick off your holiday weekend with us.

Make Believers

We’ll be joining our friend Secret Agent 23 Skidoo this Sunday at 2 pm at the Orange Peel in Asheville for the CD release party of his new record, “Make Believers.” We’re on two tracks of the album, which is terrific.

Music Video Asheville

The video we made for “Rain Remember” is going to be shown as part of Music Video Asheville, a cool annual event that showcases local filmmakers and musicians.

We’re stoked to get our home made video (that we made for a home-recorded song) on the big screen!

Mad Tea Meltdown

Here’s a photo of us taken by Michael Gordon (aka “Flash”) at the Meltdown Vintage Motorcycle Show. It was a blast.

Meltdown Vintage Motorcycle Show

This Saturday from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm we play our first ever vintage motorcycle show at the Southern Appalachian Brewery!

Thank you, Shakori Hills!

Wow, Shakori Hills was super duper! Thanks to everyone who took the time to listen to us play. We had a rockin’ set with Dave Hartman on Friday, and on Saturday JasonĀ Ringenberg of Jason & the Scorchers sat in with us on the Scorchers hit, “Can’t Help Myself,” which was written by Tim Krekel. The weekend was full of sunshine, sweet people and great music.

Shakori Hills

We are looking forward to returning the the Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival of Music & Dance (near Chapel Hill) next week. We played the very first Shakori Hills, and several others after that, but it’s been a couple years since we’ve been back. As a special treat, Dave Hartman of Southern Culture on the Skids will be joining us for our set on the Grove Stage Friday at 6 pm. It’ll rock. However, if you love Krekel’s one-man-band drums, you can see/hear them during our set on Saturday afternoon in the Cabaret Tent. We’re looking forward to playing, visiting with friends, and to hearing some of the great music that will be there.

Doo-Nanny

The Doo-Nanny. Always one of the highlights of our year.

Let the Four Winds Blow

Here’s a video from our set opening for Southern Culture on the Skids at the Grey Eagle last Friday. We get to do it all again tonight at the Handlebar in Greenville, SC. Hot diggity!
